YouTuber Accused of Prank Call That Prosecutors Say Led to Fatal Amsterdam Shooting

A YouTuber is facing accusations that a prank call allegedly tied to his platform triggered the chain of events leading to a fatal shooting in Amsterdam.

According to Dexerto, Dutch prosecutors stated during a preliminary hearing that a call allegedly made by YouTuber Rouand YT occurred roughly 30 minutes before the shooting on New Year’s Day. The Dutch Public Prosecution Service (DPPS) claims the suspect, identified as Efe Y., received a call instructing him to come to a “blue bridge” located in Piet Wiedijkpark. Court records reportedly show that a viewer paid €5 to request the prank call.

Shooting Followed Shortly After

Prosecutors allege that when Efe Y. arrived at the park, he opened fire on three teenagers who had no connection to the prank call. The DPPS stated that two of the teens — asylum seekers from Syria — were killed in the shooting. A third teenager managed to escape. Authorities have not indicated that the victims were the intended targets of the call.

Rouand YT has denied any role in making the prank call. He stated that he was not livestreaming on the day the alleged call occurred. At this time, it remains unclear what evidence prosecutors will present linking the YouTuber to the call.

The case continues to move through the Dutch legal system as investigators work to establish the sequence of events and determine accountability.

For now, what began as an alleged €5 prank has escalated into a case involving multiple deaths — and serious legal scrutiny.
