Meek was eventually released and wasted no time hopping on social media to clear the air. He took to Twitter to share his frustration, writing:
“They just pulled me out the car and cutted me in front of the whole club embarrassed the shit out of me in nyc! I’m not scared to go outside without a gun … they had guns in my face for no reason smh I thought it was a prank.”
He continued, saying:
“They tryna get me …….”
The video had been making rounds with fans flooding the comments in shock and anger. Some called out the NYPD for what they described as excessive force, while others expressed concern for Meek’s safety given his history with law enforcement.
Meek Mill’s Ongoing Battle With The System
For years, Meek Mill has been vocal about the justice system and the way it targets Black men especially those who’ve managed to turn their lives around. His frustration this time around didn’t come out of nowhere.
Meek’s legal troubles have been well-documented. In 2008, he was convicted on gun and drug charges, beginning a long battle with probation violations and court appearances that would last over a decade. Even after finding massive success in music, he couldn’t escape the system’s grip. His repeated run-ins with the law highlighted the cracks in America’s criminal justice system and turned him into an advocate for reform.
In 2017, his case reached national attention when he was sentenced to two to four years in prison for what many called a “petty” probation violation. The backlash from fans, celebrities, and activists led to the creation of the Reform Alliance, co-founded by Meek alongside Jay-Z, Michael Rubin, and others, to fight for fair treatment and probation reform.
Since then, Meek has kept his focus on growth — from music and business to community impact. He’s poured his energy into helping others avoid the same legal traps that nearly ended his career. That’s why this latest situation hit differently. It wasn’t just about a Halloween night gone wrong — it was a reminder of the reality he’s fought so hard to rise above.
As Meek continues to speak out, many hope this serves as another example of why his message about reform still matters.
