Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray Makes Major Announcement
Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray stepped to the mic Tuesday afternoon and dropped heavy news. Following the shocking assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, Gray made it clear that his office isn’t playing games.
As Hollywood Unlocked previously reported in coverage of the Charlie Kirk shooting, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson was arrested last week for allegedly pulling the trigger during the packed event.
Now, Gray is confirming prosecutors will seek the death penalty against Robinson if he’s convicted.
“I do not take this decision lightly, and it is a decision I have made independently as county attorney based solely on the available evidence and circumstances and nature of the crime,” Gray told the media while detailing charges and early evidence.
Charges Against Tyler Robinson Explained
Robinson has been locked up without bail since cops arrested him early Friday morning—less than 48 hours after the deadly shooting.
Prosecutors laid out that he’s facing charges tied directly to Kirk’s murder. Gray revealed evidence he claims ties Robinson to the crime, including:
• Text messages with his roommate before the attack
• Interviews with Robinson’s family
• Physical evidence collected at the scene and other locations
Robinson is scheduled to appear virtually for his first court date at 5 p.m. ET. Authorities said the investigation is still moving, but the evidence already stacks heavy.

Charlie Kirk’s death has rocked the nation. Whether you agreed with his politics or not, his murder mid-event hit people differently. Politicians from both sides of the aisle have spoken out against political violence. Meanwhile, Kirk’s friends, supporters, and allies are grieving heavy.
