Three months after taking the stand in the high-profile Diddy trial, Kid Cudi is finally breaking his silence—revealing exactly what was running through his mind in those intense moments.

In a brand-new episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Cudi opened up about testifying in the trafficking and racketeering case against the jailed music mogul. “I hated every minute of it,” he admitted. The 41-year-old added, “I did not want to do it, but then I thought about — when I was up there — I’m here to support Cassie.” He continued, “Cassie is my friend, and I love her and I want to see her do well.”
As we previously reported back in May, Cudi (real name Scott Mescudi) took the stand and revealed what he personally endured after Diddy allegedly found out about his relationship with Cassie. While testifying, Cudi claimed Diddy broke into his home while he and Cassie were together. After their 2011 split, Cudi said his car was set on fire.
Looking back on the ordeal, Cudi admitted, “It was crazy, man. In the moment it was just crazy. I had a hard time understanding if it was reality. I was like, ‘Am I in a movie? What the f*** is going on?’ … It was just chaotic and intense. Before all this stuff happened and it came out again, over the years, I just thought about it as like some wild s*** that happened in my rock and roll life.”
Ultimately, Cudi says he knew he had to show up for Cassie no matter what.
“I’ve always just wanted to see her thrive and do well and be happy. I know she was living a nightmare,” he continued on Wednesday’s episode. “I just was there to support her. That’s what, kind of, gave me peace with it. When I sat down in that chair, it was just about, ‘Damn, I don’t want to do this.’ To being like, ‘Oh man, I got to hold homegirl down and look out for her.’”
Despite the shocking testimonies—including Cudi’s—Diddy was found guilty on only two charges of transportation to engage in prostitution and was acquitted on three other charges. He has continued to maintain his innocence.
