Update: Domestic Violence Case Against Gervonta Davis Dropped

Boxing champ Gervonta Davis can officially breathe again — his domestic violence case has been dropped, according to an exclusive report by TMZ.

As previously covered on Hollywood Unlocked, Davis has been under legal fire since July after being accused of putting hands on the mother of his two children. But now, Miami-Dade County Court records show the charges have been dismissed.

According to a court rep, the case was thrown out on Tuesday — nearly two months after the alleged incident went down. The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office told TMZ Sports:

“This case was dropped as the victim is declining to prosecute per her victim attorney, Lindsey Chase, Esq., and her sentiments we directly confirmed with the Assistant State Attorney overseeing the prosecution.”

They also revealed: “The witness to the incident, who is the victim’s mother, also failed to cooperate and did not show up after being subpoenaed for a prefile conference on Thursday, 8/7. Our attempts to reach the witness (mother) via phone were unsuccessful.”

And here’s the kicker — police weren’t even able to confirm what happened. The statement continued:
“The incident itself was not witnessed by the police officer who was called to the scene, which means he couldn’t confirm what really happened.”

This legal relief comes after Davis was locked up on July 11 when the alleged victim told Doral Police that he struck her during a Father’s Day pickup in June. She claimed an argument popped off while he was getting the kids, and it turned physical.

What Really Went Down Before the Case Was Dropped

From the start, this case was messy. According to court documents, it wasn’t just about the alleged assault — it was about witnesses not playing ball, missing subpoenas, and a lack of solid evidence. Without cooperation from the alleged victim and her mother, prosecutors didn’t have enough to move forward.

Davis, who’s no stranger to headlines outside the ring, stayed quiet in public during most of the ordeal. Still, fans couldn’t ignore the shadow it cast over his career. Now that the case has been dropped, his camp can refocus on boxing — and keeping him out of the legal spotlight.
