Trump Wants Cracker Barrel to Go Back to the Old Logo Amid Backlash

Cracker Barrel recently rebranded their logo, and social media has been in a frenzy ever since. Now, former President Donald Trump is weighing in and he’s making it clear: he wants the company to change their logo back to the original design.

As previously reported, on August 21, Cracker Barrel announced that as part of its ongoing makeover, the chain’s new logo would ditch the iconic barrel and the man seen leaning against it. The phrase “Old Country Store” was also removed. Instead, the new design features a simplified look with just the words “Cracker Barrel” displayed on a gold background with a slightly updated shape.

According to The Hill, the backlash was swift and costly—Cracker Barrel’s stock reportedly plummeted by $94 million on Thursday. Trump, never one to shy away from sharing his thoughts, jumped in with his own suggestion for the company. In a Truth Social post, he said:

“Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before. They got a Billion Dollars worth of free publicity if they play their cards right. Very tricky to do, but a great opportunity. Have a major News Conference today. Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again. Remember, in just a short period of time I made the United States of America the ‘HOTTEST’ Country anywhere in the World. One year ago, it was ‘DEAD.’ Good luck!”

Cracker Barrel’s Response to the Logo Backlash

While the rebrand is part of a broader modernization strategy, Cracker Barrel admitted that they could have handled the rollout better. In a statement released on Monday, the company said:

“If the last few days have shown us anything, it’s how deeply people care about Cracker Barrel. We’re truly grateful for your heartfelt voices. You’ve also shown us that we could’ve done a better job sharing who we are and who we’ll always be.”

The company reassured fans that Uncle Herschel—the man who has long been featured in the logo—would not be disappearing completely. He will still appear on menus, road signs, and inside the country store.

“He’s not going anywhere — he’s family,” Cracker Barrel added.

The restaurant chain closed by saying,

“We know we won’t always get everything right the first time, but we’ll keep testing, learning, and listening to our guests and employees. At the end of the day, our promise is simple: you’ll always find comfort, community, and country hospitality here at Cracker Barrel. Uncle Herschel wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”
