SMH: Alabama Christian School Rocked After Teacher Gets Caught Up With Student
The disturbing wave of teachers crossing boundaries with students sadly continues but thankfully they’re getting nabbed,
According to police, Sarah Huggins Logan, a 35-year-old teacher at The North River Christian Academy in Tuscaloosa, was arrested last Friday after the parents of a female student went to the authorities with some serious concerns.
Law enforcement says they launched an investigation on July 16, and after running interviews and collecting the receipts (aka evidence), they had enough to take her in. Logan was arrested and charged with one count of School Employee Engaging in a Sex Act. That’s not all though… investigators say more charges are possibly on the way.
This is yet another case that raises eyebrows about trust, power, and protection in institutions meant to nurture kids. And while the police continue to build the case, the school is speaking out.
School Responds to Christian Teacher Arrest — Calls Situation ‘Heart Rending’
In response to the growing outrage and media attention, North River Christian Academy issued a statement that reads more like a plea for peace than accountability. Check it out in full:
“Our first concern is for the health and welfare of our students, staff, and families. Please respect the privacy of all these parties. Contributing to rumors and suspicions profits no one and contributes only to the hardships experienced by those impacted.
It should be self-evident to say that this incident is heart rending for all involved. This includes especially the families directly impacted. We have prayed for them and encouraged our entire school family to hold them up in their personal prayers. This situation is easy for no one; there are only degrees of difficulty.
We have received an outpouring of encouragement and support from many in the extended school family. We, the Charger Family, will weather this storm together.”
Whew.
Nowhere in that statement do they directly name the teacher or the student, but the tone suggests the school is bracing for more heat. And it sounds like they know more than they’re letting on.
Community Shocked As Police Ask For More Victims To Come Forward
The Tuscaloosa Police Department is asking any additional victims or witnesses to come forward. They haven’t released much more publicly, but this arrest alone has sparked deep conversations in the community about the lines between adult and student, and how those lines should never be blurred.
