Check ‘Em! Keisha Lance Bottoms Claps Back at Donald Trump For Trying to Fire Her: ‘You Can’t Fire Someone Who Has Already Resigned’

“You’re fired” didn’t quite work on Keisha Lance Bottoms, and she’s letting Donald Trump know that! The former Atlanta mayor, who is among the first four presidential appointees from the Biden administration that President Trump attempted to fire after he was sworn in, is reminding him that he needs to be a little quicker than that.

In a Tuesday post just after midnight, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to use his catchphrase from his reality television series, “The Apprentice”: “YOU’RE FIRED.” He stated, “Our first day in the White House is not over yet! My Presidential Personnel Office is actively in the process of identifying and removing over a thousand Presidential Appointees from the previous Administration, who are not aligned with our vision to Make America Great Again.”

He continued, “Let this serve as Official Notice of Dismissal for these four individuals, with many more coming soon: Jose Andres from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition; Mark Milley from the National Infrastructure Advisory Council; Brian Hook from the Wilson Center for Scholars; and Keisha Lance Bottoms from the President’s Export Council—YOU’RE FIRED!” Well, Bottoms had something to say in response. She posted this Tuesday morning:

“A day late and a dollar short…. My resignation from the President’s Export Council was submitted January 4, effective yesterday. You can’t fire someone who has already resigned. Of all of the things happening in the world, I’m not sure why I am on Donald Trump’s mind at 1:30 am following his inauguration, but I count it as a badge of honor.”

She added, “I do hope that his attention to detail will be much more keen when it comes to world affairs. There are real issues that need attention across the globe. No matter how you voted, I think we can all agree that targeting me, along with a man who is feeding displaced people in Los Angeles and a decorated military general in the early morning hours via social media is not the best use of time for the President of the United States.”

Trump has yet to react to her formal statement.

Meanwhile, many have been praising Bottoms for her work over the years, as well as her grace and class. “He was intimidated by you!!! Job well done, Mayor Lance Bottoms!!! We are beyond proud of you here in Atlanta and at FAMU!!! Thank you for all that you’ve done for us!!!” one Instagram user commented.

Another said, “Thank you so much for your service and professionalism!! Moving on to bigger and better things!!” A third added, “That’s right, protect your peace! What’s next, @keishabottoms? We know you, and you’ve always got a spade on deck!”
