Jennifer Lee Wilson, a 48-year-old foster mother, was sentenced to six years in prison for the reckless homicide of her 10-year-old foster son, Dakota Levi Stevens.
On that fateful day in April, the police were summoned to Wilson’s home, arriving to find young Dakota unresponsive, his small body lifeless. According to police, Wilson’s actions stemmed from a moment of frustration; she admitted to sitting on Dakota for five minutes after he had “acted up” following an argument.
Per the affidavit, Dakota had bruising on his lower neck and chest, signs of the torment he endured during those agonizing minutes. Doorbell camera even captured the harrowing scene—Wilson lying across Dakota’s body, seemingly indifferent to his suffering.
She was heard asking, “Are you faking?” as the life slipped away from him. When she finally realized something was wrong, she attempted CPR, but the clock had already run out.
