SZA Reveals She Parted Ways With Manager Terrence 'Punch' Henderson Days After 'Lana' Album Release, Her Latest Long-Delayed Project

On this Christmas holiday, SZA revealed that she parted ways with her longtime manager, Terrence “Punch” Henderson, just days after the release of her album, ‘Lana,’ which followed a list of other long-delayed projects.

Last Friday (December 20), SZA dropped off her new album ‘Lana,’ which arrives as the deluxe edition of her 2022 hit ‘SOS.’ The deluxe album not only took two years to drop, but was also delayed on the day of its release. The received a final due date for December 20, however, it didn’t hit streaming platforms until Friday afternoon, versus the usual 12 o’clock midnight drop.

SZA’s manager, Punch — who also serves as the President of the label she is signed to, Top Dawg Entertainment — ultimately took the blame for her latest long-delayed project, ‘Lana.’ He hopped on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “12 p.m. It’s my fault.” Despite his apparent apology, fans still dragged him, causing him to add another post. It read, “Aye look, the fans can talk crazy. I get it. It’s different when you work in this small industry though. Be nice.”

SZA even chimed in and replied to his tweet, “WHO BEHIND A DESK POPPING SH*T? So, I can print they face out at the venue and say, ‘If you see this person, call the authorities,’ like when they steal from the beauty supply.” SZA continued to defend her manager sharing a text thread of theirs and telling fans to thank Punch for letting her drop more music after the ‘Lana,’ album release.

She captioned the post, “King being kind [and] finna let me purge it all. Yes, I’m secretly begging for more than this lmao. Everybody say, ‘Thank you @iamstillpunch.'” Punch joked back and said, “Aiight, somebody get her phone.” However, all of the pleasantries after the release of ‘Lana,’ seemed to evaporate as of Tuesday (December 24), when SZA subliminally tweeted, “N***as try to sabotage not knowing it only motivates me. Silly goose.”

On Christmas Day (Wednesday, December 25), fans began to notice that SZA unfollowed Punch on Instagram and that he took her out of his bio on X. It reportedly initially read, “I manage SZA.” The two also continued to share subliminal memes and messages on their social media pages. Amid the unconfirmed reports, SZA finally confirmed that she parted ways with her manager on Instagram and said, “Nothing to celebrate. The end of an era. I wish him the best ❤ whatever his choices may be ❤.”

In another comment she wrote, “And to be clear, I love Punch deeply! No ONE should be attacking him or being cruel on my behalf. Sometimes people grow apart and that’s okay ❤.” A social user asked her, “What’s this mean about the tracks releasing tonight, though?”

SZA replied, “Those were tracks Punch and I spoke about releasing together prior. Obviously, he stepped away abruptly. So, sorting the drop out was a bit tricky. Please give me a second. They’ll be loaded ❤.” After the news, SZA lastly warned on X, “Now, now, now. Let’s keep it cute. 🙂↕ It’s Christmas.”
