“Kendrick Lamar is the one that’s supposed to do it right now. He’s gonna crush it, we should never doubt him. He’s an amazing artist. Top-tier. He had an incredible year. He actually brought so many people together, it’s to be celebrated. That’s what culture is. He deserves it. I cannot wait to see it. Kendrick, thank you,” she said to the news outlet.

As we previously shared, On Sunday (September 8), JAY-Z‘s Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL announced that Kendrick Lamar will lead the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime show. Creative direction for the Grammy Award-winner’s Super Bowl halftime show will be provided by his pgLang company.

Super Bowl LIX is currently scheduled to be played on February 9, 2025 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans and will air on Fox. Speaking on the amazing feat, Lamar said, “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”

Lamar continued, “What’s the deal, everybody? My name’s Kendrick Lamar, and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl 59. Will you be pulling up? I hope so. You know there’s only one opportunity to win a championship, no round twos… I wouldn’t want you to miss it. Meet me in New Orleans, February 9, 2025. Wear your best dress too, even if you’re watching from home.”

JAY-Z also weighed in by saying, “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”

To note, this will be Kendrick Lamar’s second time performing during a Super Bowl halftime show. He previously joined the stage during Dr. Dre’s 2022 All-Star performance featuring himself, Snoop DoggEminem50 Cent, and Mary J. Blige. The news of Lamar’s newest feat arrives after his rap battle with Toronto rapper Drake earlier this year. The viral feud not only resulted in a huge win for Lamar but also spawned one of his biggest songs yet “Not Like Us.”
