The feds have been going to work this year as another high-profile public figure’s home has been raided. On Thursday morning, federal agents executed a raid at Gracie Mansion, the official residence of New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Reports indicate that during the raid, agents seized an electronic device belonging to the mayor. This action is reportedly part of a broader investigation into foreign influence concerning Adams’ 2021 campaign.
The raid occurred just hours after news broke of the mayor’s indictment. At this time, the specific charges against Adams remain unclear, as does the direct connection between the investigation and the recent indictment. However, in a video released on Wednesday, Adams categorically denied any wrongdoing or knowledge of any illicit activities.
Adams suggested that federal investigators are intentionally sensationalizing inquiries related to New York City Hall to undermine his credibility.
“My fellow New Yorkers. It is now my belief that the federal government intends to charge me with crimes. If so, these charges would be entirely false, based on lies. But they would not be surprising. I always knew that If I stood my ground for all of you that I would be a target—and a target I became. For months, leaks and rumors have been aimed at me in an attempt to undermine my credibility and paint me as guilty.”
He continued, “Just this past week they searched the home of our new police commissioner, looking for documents from 20 years ago—but just one week after he joined my administration. Enough. I will fight these injustices with every ounce of my strength, and my spirit. If I am charged, I know I am innocent. I will request an immediate trial so that New Yorkers can hear the truth. New Yorkers know my story. They know where I come from. I have been fighting injustice my entire life. That fight has continued as your mayor.”

In response to the situation, Adams has enlisted the services of private attorney Alex Spiro. Spiro issued a statement following the raid, emphasizing,
“Federal agents appeared this morning at Gracie Mansion in an effort to create a spectacle (again) and take [Adams’] phone (again). He has not been arrested and looks forward to his day in court.”
