Donald Trump is set to make a notable change at his upcoming campaign rallies, as the U.S. Secret Service has recently approved a new security measure to enhance his protection.
According to a report from The Guardian, the agency intends to surround Trump’s podium with ballistic glass at major outdoor campaign events. This precaution is typically reserved for serving presidents and vice presidents, but in light of Trump surviving an assassination attempt in July, his team is taking no chances.
Since the shooting incident in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump has conducted nearly a dozen campaign events, all of which have taken place indoors. However, during a recent indoor rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he expressed his desire to continue holding outdoor rallies, stating, “We’re not giving up the outdoor rallies.”
A Secret Service official informed The Washington Post that the agency has already begun positioning panels of ballistic glass across the country, facilitating their transport to various Trump events. This initiative reflects the heightened security concerns surrounding the former president.
Earlier this week, Trump addressed the assassination attempt on his platform X, formerly known as Twitter, during a conversation with CEO Elon Musk. “If I had not turned my head, I would not be talking to you right now — as much as I like you,” he remarked to Musk. In response, Musk acknowledged the seriousness of the threats, saying, “There are some real tough characters out there. And if they don’t think the American president is tough, they will do what they want to do.”
In a previous post on his platform Truth Social, Trump recounted the harrowing details of the assassination attempt. He wrote, “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong, as I heard a whizzing sound and felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.”
Despite the frightening experience, Donald Trump remains undeterred, stating that he will not slow down or withdraw from the presidential race. His determination to continue campaigning underscores his resilience in the face of adversity.
