In a new book, Donald Trump’s nephew reveals that Trump advised him to allow his disabled son to pass away and then relocate to Florida, a statement that the nephew described as “appalling”.
According to The Guardian, the disturbing conversation is detailed in the upcoming book “All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way,” set to be released next week. The book also contains a passage in which the former US president and current Republican nominee is reported to have used a racial slur multiple times.
In the book, Trump III recounts reaching out to Donald Trump following an encounter at Briarcliff, a family golf club in Westchester County, New York. He explains that he shared details about his son’s requirements and the rising expenses associated with his care, and the disapproval he faced from Trump’s siblings. “Donald took a second as if he was thinking about the whole situation,” Trump III writes. “‘I don’t know,’” he finally said, letting out a sigh. ‘He doesn’t recognise you. Maybe you should just let him die and move down to Florida,” the former president reportedly said. Trump III then writes: “Wait! What did he just say? That my son doesn’t recognise me? That I should just let him die? Did he really just say that? That I should let my son die … so I could move down to Florida? Really?”
Trump III explained that he was not caught off guard by the statement, as he had just recently overheard his uncle express similar sentiments during a meeting in the Oval Office with healthcare professionals and advocates for individuals with disabilities.
During that same meeting in 2020, Trump III recalls that his uncle appeared engaged and displayed a level of interest and concern in the discussions that were taking place.
“I thought he had been touched by what the doctor and advocates in the meeting had just shared about their journey with their patients and their own family members. But I was wrong.”
“‘Those people …’ Donald said, trailing off. ‘The shape they’re in, all the expenses, maybe those kinds of people should just die.’”
