Welp, Justin Timberlake has been officially charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) following his arrest in the Hamptons. As we previously reported, the incident occurred on Monday night in Sag Harbor, New York, leading to Timberlake’s subsequent custody. While the police department initially remained tight-lipped about the details, recent updates shed light on the situation.
According to law enforcement sources who spoke with TMZ, officers observed Timberlake with glassy eyes and detected the smell of alcohol on his breath. The entertainer reportedly failed the field sobriety test, struggling to perform tasks such as the one-legged stand and the walk and turn. It is said that Timberlake had been partying at the American Hotel before leaving and subsequently running a stop sign. Police officers noticed his erratic driving and initiated a traffic stop. Despite being asked to take a breathalyzer test, Timberlake allegedly refused.
On Tuesday, June 18, Timberlake, 43, was arraigned and ultimately released without bail. He has since been charged with one count of driving while intoxicated, the news outlet notes. Additionally, he received citations for running a stop sign and failing to stay in his designated lane.
According to TMZ, a court date has been scheduled for July 26 to further address the charges.

The news of Timberlake’s DWI charge has come as a surprise to many of his fans and followers. Known for his successful music career and charismatic persona, Timberlake has always maintained a relatively clean and positive image in the public eye. However, in recent years his behavior has become questionable.
In 2019 he was caught holding hands with his co-star during an outing. Timberlake who has been married to Jessica Beil since 2012 later issued an apology and blamed alcohol for his inappropriate behavior.
So far he has not released a statement regarding his arrest and neither has his legal team. TMZ reports that he is being repped by criminal defense lawyer Ed Burke, Jr.
