Welp, one San Diego officer took his duties to protect and serve to a whole other level.
Officer Anthony Hair has resigned from his position following an incident where he found himself locked in the backseat of his patrol car with a female suspect. The embarrassing moment was captured on bodycam footage and was recently released.
So what the heck was he doing back there? Well, on the night of August 15, 2023, Hair, a two-year police veteran, was involved in the arrest of two individuals suspected of car theft. One of the arrested individuals, an unidentified woman with a bench warrant, was assigned to Officer Hair for transportation to the police headquarters and then to the detention center. It was during this transport when the two began to have small talk. During the exchange, the woman tells him “I’m down to f*** right now.” Seemingly tempted, Hair says, “Don’t say that right now…Don’t say that right now because everything is being recorded right now.”
At some point, officer Hair’s police cruiser abruptly slowed down and turned onto a dark residential street near Las Colinas, according to the GPS tracking system in his vehicle. At 1:34 a.m., the cruiser came to a complete stop. After more than twenty minutes, officer Hair contacted a fellow officer inquiring about a master key for the patrol cars. It was then revealed that he was locked in the backseat with the female suspect.

At 2:40 a.m., approximately an hour after the incident began, a supervisor arrived at the scene and successfully opened the door, freeing Officer Hair. When questioned, he maintained that he had unintentionally been locked in the backseat while checking on the woman. He further explained that his body camera had been dislodged from its clip when he exited the cruiser, resulting in it being turned off during the incident.
However, the investigation uncovered additional evidence. Traces of semen were ultimately found on Officer Hair’s belt during testing. Now, even despite the woman’s statement that nothing inappropriate occurred, this discovery further fueled the investigation.
As a result of the internal investigation, Officer Anthony Hair chose to resign from his position on September 14, 2023, less than a month after the incident. The San Diego Police Department released the findings of the investigation, complying with California Law and ensuring transparency regarding the incident and its aftermath.
