Sports journalist Jemele Hill is speaking out about Cam’Ron’s viral CNN interview where he was asked about the 2016 video of Diddy assaulting Cassie.
As we previously shared, the rapper seemed to be confused when he was hit with several questions about Diddy and gave the interviewer a hard time during the segment. Well, Jemele Hill made a tweet on X Tuesday where she questioned how something like that would happen when most guests are prepared with the questions that will be asked ahead of time. “So, something ain’t adding up. I’ve done CNN hundreds of times, including Abby’s show,” Hill said. “Before every single appearance, a producer tells me or someone on my team what my segment is about and the types of questions that I’ll be asked. If you aren’t a regular, the producers typically insist on a pre-interview with either you, or someone on your team, who relays your talking points.”
She continued, “So either 1) a producer didn’t tell him or his team what kind of questions he would be asked or 2) a producer told him or someone on his team and he purposely decided to use this opportunity as a publicity stunt anyway … or someone in his camp didn’t tell him what he was being asked.”
During the interview things went left pretty quickly. “Is there something known in the industry about how Diddy treated his artists?” CNN’s Abby Phillip asked Cam’ron as the rapper drank his libido supplement reportedly called “Pink Horse Power,” which he promotes on his podcast.
“Sorry, I’m going to go get some cheeks after this Horse Power drink,” he said after finishing the drink.
During the interview, Cam’ron was questioned by Phillip about the controversy surrounding Diddy following the release of a video showing him physically assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in a Los Angeles hotel in 2016. As the interview progressed, Phillip appeared to be increasingly uncomfortable. Cam’ron became frustrated with the line of questioning and questioned why he was even participating in the program.

“I don’t know him like that. What do you mean, did I recognize him? I saw him. What do you mean by ‘experiences?’ I saw him and I thought it was disgusting. I didn’t do a zoom-in to see if it was really him or not. But he admitted it was him, so, yeah, it was him,” he said.
“Who’s the talent agent for this joint?” Cam’ron later asked. “You think I be sitting around watching what Diddy doing? I didn’t know this was a Diddy joint that y’all invited me to. Who booked me for this joint?”
Since then Cam’Ron has spoken out about the incident and continues to question why he wasn’t brought on CNN to talk about any of the positive things that he does in the community, but instead, the main focus was surrounded by Diddy and his troubles.
