A Colorado man has found himself behind bars after attempting to kidnap a boy at Black Forest Hills elementary School in Aurora on Friday afternoon.
An Aurora police spokesperson released a statement to CBS News Colorado on Sunday and stated that Solomon Galligan,33, entered school premises on Friday and approached multiple children but tried to grab one boy before leaving the area.

Galligan is facing a single charge of attempted kidnapping and is currently detained in the Arapahoe County Jail with a bond set at $25,000. He is scheduled for a court appearance on Monday morning. While the specifics of Galligan’s prior sex offense were not immediately evident since he was not listed in the state’s sex offender registry, court documents reveal a 2012 conviction in Jefferson County related to failing to register as a sex offender.
When the incident occurred, the district mentioned that school staff promptly brought students indoors from recess and alerted district security. In response to the situation, the school implemented heightened security measures and increased police presence during Friday’s dismissal.
“The School Safety Team will convene Monday to review security protocols as is our usual procedure after any safety incident,” the district said in a message to families Sunday afternoon. “To ensure students feel safe outside at recess, there will be increased supervision this week and staff will talk with students to reinforce safety practices.”
