Larsa Pippen has recently sparked discussions surrounding parenting and financial support after revealing that she provides her 15-year-old daughter, Sophia, with a monthly allowance of $2,500. The Real Housewives of Miami star defended her decision during the latest reunion episode.
During the show, Larsa explained that one of the reasons why she gives her teen daughter such a huge allowance is because of the high cost of living in Los Angeles, where Sophia resides with her father, NBA legend Scottie Pippen. She explained that the allowance covers expenses such as food, transportation, and gifts for friends.
While speaking to the cast, Larsa said, “You guys understand, like, LA is super expensive. So, like, after school, she orders food or Uber or, like, you know, buys presents for her friends’ birthdays,” she said on the reunion. Larsa also noted that Sophia still “makes money” on her own through deals with different fashion brands.
“She literally makes money, you know?” she said.

Fellow “RHOM” star Kiki Barth shared her perspective by revealing that she provides her son with a significantly lower monthly allowance of $300, prompting discussions on varying parenting styles and financial approaches. Despite any criticisms, Adriana de Moura praised Larsa as a devoted mother, acknowledging her commitment to ensuring Sophia’s well-being and happiness.
“I think that one thing we can all say, you know, about Larsa, she can have many faults, but she’s a good mom, you know?” Adriana de Moura said.
Larsa admitted that it’s been hard for her ever since she allowed Sophia to attend high school in Los Angeles, away from her Miami home.
“For me, Miami is home. Like, that’s where my heart and my soul is, and Sophia loves being in LA, and so it’s OK. You know, her dad is there. She kind of goes back and forth, and she’s happy. That’s the only thing that I care about,” she previously shared.
Larsa and Scottie –– who finalized their divorce in 2021 –– also have three sons together: Scotty Jr., 23, Preston, 21, and Justin, 18.
