A Florida mother, Jessica Woods, is making headlines for allegedly attempting to sell her 18-month-old daughter for $500.
The incident unfolded earlier this month outside an H&R Block location in Palatka, Florida when a concerned bank employee noticed Woods loitering with her child outside the building. The employee recognized Woods as a regular visitor who had used the bank’s restroom to change her daughter in the past. Witnesses also reported seeing Woods hitting and spanking her daughter inside the bank’s restroom. The following morning, March 5, Woods was found sleeping on an air conditioning unit outside the bank while her daughter was left unattended in a shopping cart nearby.
When approached by the bank employee offering assistance, Woods allegedly demanded money. Refusing to provide cash, the employee offered to buy essential items for Woods and her daughter. This offer angered Woods, leading her to throw her child in frustration. Later that day, Woods returned to the bank and placed her daughter on the ground, causing the child to crawl towards traffic. When the employee intervened and rescued the child, Woods shockingly offered to sell her daughter for $500. Upon the citizen’s refusal, Woods abandoned her child and walked away.

The bank employee took the toddler inside, cleaned her up, and alerted the authorities about the disturbing incident. Subsequently, the child was taken into the custody of the Department of Children and Families, and Woods faced serious charges.
Jessica Woods was arrested on March 7 and charged with six felonies, including child abuse, child neglect, and abandonment of a child. She was booked into Putnam County Jail with a bond set at $255,000.
The 18-month-old girl is now in foster care, away from the dangerous situation created by her mother’s actions.
