What Has Katt Williams Said About Rickey Smiley:

Title: Katt Williams Sets the Record Straight on “Friday After Next” Controversy

In the recent episode of Shannon Sharpe’s popular podcast, “Club Shay Shay,” Williams took the opportunity to address a long-standing controversy surrounding the comedy sequel “Friday After Next.” Williams, who made his film debut in the movie, expressed his disagreement with comments made by fellow comedian Rickey Smiley regarding their respective roles in the film. With humor and candor, Williams shed light on his truth behind the casting decisions and set the record straight.

During the podcast conversation, Williams revealed that Smiley had claimed their roles in “Friday After Next” were originally meant to be reversed. According to Smiley, he was initially slated to play the iconic character Money Mike, while Williams would have portrayed the jovial Santa Claus. However, Williams strongly disagreed with Smiley’s assertion, asserting that the roles were cast correctly from the beginning.

“This man told you he had Katt Williams’ role. He was going to be Money Mike, and Katt Williams was going to be the Santa Claus,” Williams said. “We auditioned in Los Angeles. I was audition No. 201. Two-hundred Black comedians auditioned for the role of Money Mike with me. You’re saying all 201 of us was auditioning, and you had already had the role and had already shot the role in four days?”

On Thursday’s episode of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, Smiley told his radio listeners he was originally meant to be Money Mike but in hindsight thinks Williams was the better choice.

“I had no reason to lie about that,” Smiley said before explaining, “They added that whole pimp twist to that character, which was actually a better decision and made it funnier,” Smiley said of Williams’s casting as Money Mike. “There was no way in the hell I could have executed that role like that and I’m glad that they made that decision.”
