No games! DJ Envy, co-host of The Breakfast Club, has reportedly expressed his willingness to testify against his former business partner, Cesar Pina, in an ongoing fraud case.

Pina, who is facing charges of defrauding real estate investors, has denied DJ Envy’s involvement in the alleged scam. As the legal proceedings unfold, both parties are taking steps to defend their positions.

In response to the subpoena issued last month, DJ Envy’s attorney, Daniel Marchese Esq., has confirmed that his client will cooperate fully and provide his testimony to help clear his name. Marchese states in court documents that DJ Envy has complied with the court’s order to produce relevant documents. Furthermore, he offers to make his client available for sworn testimony if required, to affirm the accuracy of the provided information. Marchese writes in the court docs, “We are aware that on December 20, 2023, the Court issued an Order compelling the production of documents demanded in those subpoenas. At this time, I am happy to report that on Friday, January 5, 2024, we forwarded our responses and document production to counsel for the Trustee in these aforementioned cases,” All Hip-Hop exclusively quotes.

He went on to say, “Given the professional back-and-forth between counsel and I since then, it would appear that indeed the responses and the production were acknowledged and received by the Trustee. With this writing, I therefore confirm my client’s compliance with Your Honor’s Order. As I offered to Trustee’s counsel, I will likewise offer to the Court that should sworn testimony (in any form) be needed to affirm my client’s responses and production, he would readily oblige.”

While DJ Envy is prepared to testify, Cesar Pina’s legal team is seeking a continuance in the case. They argue that additional time is necessary for effective preparation and to explore the possibility of resolving the matter before indictment, potentially avoiding a trial. Pina’s attorneys are actively engaging with federal prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal, per the outlet.

In October, the New Jersey real estate investor and influencer was arrested over claims he committed a multimillion-dollar Ponzi-like investment fraud scheme.

“As alleged in the complaint, Pina exploited celebrity status and social media to develop a devoted following of potential victims. Promising returns that were too good to be true, Pina allegedly defrauded dozens of people of millions of dollars. Our office is committed to protecting the public from these schemes and prosecuting those who lie to investors for their own personal gain,” U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said.

Shortly after his arrest, Cesar Pina actually defended DJ Envy, asserting that his former business partner had no involvement in the alleged real estate scam. Pina emphasized that DJ Envy was never present during any of the fraudulent activities and claimed that Envy’s fame may have made him a target. Pina clarified that DJ Envy was a partner in real estate seminars and transactions, but not a victim.

DJ Envy has also spoken out to deny having involvement in anything illegal while working with Mr. Pina.

While Pina’s defense team seeks a plea deal to resolve the matter, they maintain that DJ Envy was not a victim but rather a partner in their real estate ventures. As the legal proceedings continue, the truth behind the allegations will hopefully be revealed, shedding light on the extent of each individual’s involvement.
