Warner Bros Studios has been on a roll this week, following the heels of the successful “Color Purple” premiere that left audience members in awe of the film’s excellent storytelling and musical score, the studio did it again with “Wonka.”
To bring this year to a close, Warner Bros celebrated the Los Angeles premiere of “Wonka” at the Regency Village theaters on December 10. Guests in attendance included the stars of the film Timothee Chalamet, who arrived in a black alligator skin jacket, matching slacks, and boots, sans Kylie Jenner who did not walk the carpet but attended the screening with her mother Kris Jenner. Fellow cast members Hugh Grant, Keegan Michael Key, Natasha Rothwell, Calah Lane and many more also came out to celebrate. Guests were met with a world of imagination to celebrate the film’s upcoming release on December 15!
“WONKA” serves as a prequel to “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory,” and follows the story of Wonka on his journey to make his dreams come true as a chocolatier. The storyline is pleasantly surprising and a different take on the classic but the creativity is unique as the film seamlessly blends the unbelievable with captivating characters and brilliant storylines and of course lots of delicious chocolate.
“WONKA” masterfully pays tribute to the musical, book, and film, incorporating elements from each while adding its unique flare.
Timothee Chalamet’s portrayal of Wonka was emotionally stirring, and a great tribute to the character, and the addition of Noodle played by Lane brings another powerful fan favorite to the table. Now my personal favorite was seeing Hugh Grant embody the role of Oompa Loompa, with enough sarcasm and humor, he created what we truly believe an Oompa Loompa would be, and witnessing Keegan Michael Key’s Chief of Police undergoing a weight transformation due to his echolocate addiction was truly hilarious.
Additions of more characters such as Chocolate Cartel, the ‘scrub scrub’ crew, and the zookeeper guard with his long-lost lover, created a loveable set of characters that made the film even more heartwarming. You will leave the theatre feeling happy, entertained, and in a better mood after watching “Wonka.” Undoubtedly, it is one of the most imaginative, creative, and artistically beautiful films of the year, alongside Warner’s other accomplishments with “Barbie” and “The Color Purple.”
