Dang! Jeannie Mai Reveals She Learned Jeezy Filed for Divorce at ‘Same Time as the Rest of the World’: ‘I Was Gutted’

Jeannie Mai is speaking out on her divorce from rapper Jeezy. The former talk show host appeared as a guest on Monday’s episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show. While there, she told the host how she’s been holding up since he made the move to end their marriage in September after two years together.

Mai explained, “Even though this year, I met the most broken version of me. I also met the strongest version of me,” the 44-year-old told host Jennifer Hudson on the couch. She went on to say, “It was kind of hard, so yeah, it’s what I’m dealing with day by day, you know? I think I’m doing better now.”

Further into the interview, the television personality revealed that she found out about Jeezy, 46, filing for divorce at the same time as the rest of the world. “When I found out … that my marriage was ending in divorce, I was gutted,” Mai Jenkins shared.

Jeannie and Jeezy, who married in March 2021 share a daughter together, baby Monaco, whom they welcomed in January 2022.

Speaking on how she’s juggling this latest legal battle while caring for their daughter, Mai said she’s “picking up the pieces.”

“So today, it’s about picking up the pieces. It’s about discovering me and being a mom to the best blessing in my life, my little girl.” Although she and Jeezy are no longer together she looks at their daughter as the “greatest gift” in the world.

“She’s just my whole world,” Mai Jenkins said. “Reliving my life and reparenting myself through this little girl has been the greatest gift of my life.”

More On Their Divorce

The rapper released a statement in October just a month after he officially filed for divorce. He said at the time, “The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart. Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart.”

Since then, things have seemed to get a little nasty.

As we previously reported, Jeezy accused Jeannie Mai Jenkins of acting as a “gatekeeper” for their daughter.

In the filing, the rapper asked a judge for a hearing to set “clearly defined” temporary legal and physical custody rights amid their divorce. Initially both parties “agreed upon a visitation schedule through the end of 2023” after Jeezy filed for divorce last month. However, in the filing, he states that the situation is “becoming increasingly less feasible.” The doc further stated, “The lack of consistency, continuity, and stability inherently associated with such a haphazard and fluid parenting time schedule is stressful to the Child (Monaco), and it has, as is unfortunately inevitable with all families in transition, created unnecessary tension and confusion regarding not only parenting time but also in regard to each parent’s role and rights when the Child is in their respective custody.”

Despite that, his estranged wife hit back

As we previously reported, Jeannie responded to his petition by insinuating her estranged husband is guilty of infidelity. Her lawyer wrote, “Wife reserves the right to amend this counterclaim to add other grounds for divorce, but which Wife does not wish to specify herein at this time in the hope this matter can be resolved without having to disclose such conduct publicly.” Furthermore, she reportedly claims that his infidelity will have a HUGE effect on their prenup and division of assets.

“Wife further shows that the Court should enforce Paragraph 8 of the Prenuptial Agreement regarding infidelity which provides, in pertinent part, that in the event that either party engages in sexual relations, an emotional relationship, or is emotionally or sexually suggestive in communication with a third party via all forms of electronic communications, including but not limited to texting, sexting, Facetiming, social media and/or Direct Messages, shall result in a significant financial penalty upon the adulterous party …”

A spokesperson for Jeezy has released a statement denying these claims.

“Any claim of infidelity on Mr. Jenkins’ behalf are 100 percent false and we have no further statements at this time,” the rep told Us Weekly on Saturday, December 2.
