Investigators believe that the victim, Liyah-Grace Holsey, was attempting to cross from the north side of Sublett Road to the south side when she was struck by two vehicles traveling in the eastbound lanes. The collision took place at a time when many students were heading home after school, making the incident even more devastating.

Little Holsey was immediately rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. Medical staff worked tirelessly to save her life, but unfortunately, her injuries proved fatal. The news of her passing reached the officers later that night, leaving the community in deep sorrow.
The Arlington Police Department has stated that both drivers involved in the accident have cooperated fully with their investigation. At this stage, no criminal charges have been filed.

The department is working diligently to gather all the necessary information to further determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

While speaking on the horrific accident, Mary Moore Elementary School principal Wendy Baker spoke with KXAS-TV and said that she and assistant the principal were at the venue and accompanied Hosley to the hospital.

“We had a parent who had driven by and saw that there was an accident that had happened not too far away from here,” she told the outlet. “I think when you find out any of your children — as a parent, or as a principal, you are devastated. It is the worst nightmare that you can imagine,” added Baker.

The loss of a young life is always a painful experience, and the community has rallied together to support the grieving family and friends of Liyah-Grace Holsey.
