In a super candid interview on the Call Her Daddy Podcast, Ciara talks about everything from her great music, to being a mother to her adorable kids and a wife to her loving husband, Russell Wilson. The “How We Roll” singer also briefly talks about her past relationship with rapper Future.
While diving into that topic, the 37-year-old reflected on the time she knew it was time to end things with the “Mask Off” entertainer as she wanted better for herself.
“It’s almost like your taste buds change,” she told host Alex Cooper, via Entertainment Tonight. “You gotta also sometimes look in the mirror and reflect on yourself, like what are things that I could be doing differently in my life? I’m looking for a change but what does that mean?”
The two dated over a decade ago. They were first linked in 2012 and later got engaged. The entertainers eventually welcomed a son, Future Zahir, together in May 2014 and broke up that same year.
Speaking more about that time, Ciara explained, “When you have a child, it’s very important to me, it’s no time to play around,” she said. “I am now responsible for another life, so what am I doing, how am I thinking that through?” She continued, “I want joy. I want to make sure my cup is full,” She added, “When you’re tired, you’re tired and don’t nobody wants to be tired all the time.”
One thing she made clear is that she doesn’t like to be played with. “Don’t let anybody waste your time. I don’t care if it’s a relationship or friendship, business, whatever it is. Don’t let it waste your time,” the “Goodies” singer added. “It’s just not worth it. Those are things that come to my mind, how I process when there’s a pivotal moment in my life and in any aspect of my life.”

Ciara was recently asked about her past relationship with Future while speaking with The Shade Room last month. However, that moment was nothing but laughs… literally.

Aside from that, Ciara also expressed her love for her man Russell, “He’s an amazing father,” she said. “Watching him with all of our kids, it is one of the sweetest things. It’s one of the sexiest things, to be honest with you. I’m just saying, ladies, when a man jumps in and changes the diaper, and he’s pulling up to teacher-parent conferences, it’s like, ‘Ooh!'”
She went on to say, “There’s something about a man turning on that part of them, like, they’re being a man for you but they’re also being a man for your family. There’s no better feeling than knowing that.”
