More Love and Hip-Hop castmates are reacting to Erica Mena’s firing.
In case you missed it, the franchise announced that she will not be returning for the next season of Love and Hip-Hop: Atlanta after she sparked massive backlash for calling co-star Spice a “monkey.” LHH released a statement over the weekend that read, “The Love & Hip Hop franchise has never shied away from hard conversations in our community. Working hand-in-hand with our partners, viewers will see the impact of Erica Mena’s remarks play out in the final three episodes of the season. Effective immediately, she will not appear in the next season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.”
Reacting to the latest headlines, Stevie J commented under our post, “Not fair,” while former cast mate Hazel E went back down memory lane with her “monkey” comment controversy. As previously reported, Hazel E faced massive backlash years ago after she clapped back at comedian Jess Hilarious and referred to her as a “raggedy broke black a** B*tch” and said she was “monkey looking.” While weighing in on the drama with Erica Mena, Hazel E commented, “I remember when Erica & Cyn laughed at me… crazy thing is I’m actually a Black woman, they feel entitled because they take Black [eggplant emoji].”
Erica Mena has yet to comment on her firing and Cyn Santana has yet to react to being mentioned by Hazel E.
Meanwhile, Jess Hilarious who also had an appearance on the show, reacted to the news about Mena. Surprisingly she came to her defense,
“I don’t think Erica was using it as a racial slur. Maybe Spice look like a monkey to her. Let a motherf*cker tell me Ash (her son) don’t like me whatever the f*ck you look like I’m going to call you that and the fact they filmed it back in the dizzle and you choose to fire her for the backlash. You not even protecting your cast like you do.”

Lil Scrappy expressed the same sentiments. However, he made it clear that he was not speaking in Mena’s defense. He said in an Instagram Live that he felt like it was a “bozo” move on LHH’s part to fire her since he claims Love and Hip-Hop “sets sh*t up.” He added, “They set you up, get you all hyped up, have somebody talk shit to you, and then you react, then they want to fire you.”
Scrappy continued, “I don’t fuck with Erica at all. Like at all. But you know… if you put me in a position where a n*gga talking about my kids and all that, we f*cking fighting. I’m ain’t throwing no tables, we finna fight. They can fire me. They know that. Ima still be me.”
