“Don’t get me wrong. I love the U.S., at times – but that ain’t the world. That is not the world. We are the world. We have almost every country out here fighting, thriving, putting on their flag to show that they are represented. There ain’t no flags in the NBA.” After his comments several players responded to his comments. Kevin Durant reacted to the news and simple said, “Somebody help this brother.” Drake even caught wind of the track stars comments and said, “He thought this speech was gonna be so hard in the mirror the night before…now the whole league doesn’t rate you.”
Well even though NBA ballers and fans were not feeling his comments it seems like one person understand where he was coming from and that’s Sha’Carri Richardson. In some new tweets that she shared to her X account Richardson let it be known that Lyles said nothing wrong during his speech. “I’m standing with Noah on this one !! He said it PERFECTLY!!!! Until you go against the WORLD, you cannot be a world champion.” Richardson quickly deleted that tweet and then made another saying, “I’m standing with Noah on this one !! @LylesNoah the organization have players from different countries but do they compete against different countries. You have to go against the world in order to be a world champion!!”
Richardson is a world champion! As we previously reported the track star dusted her opponents in the 100m final and took home the first place trophy!

While both sports attract elite talent from every corner of the globe, NBA games are played in the United States and Canada and don’t involve teams from top leagues in other countries, such as Spain or France. Track competitions are held at locations around the world, requiring its athletes to compete against the world’s best on their own turf.
After referencing the NBA, Lyles argued that track’s leaders need to do a better job of drawing this distinction and trumpeting the truly international nature of their sport.
“We’ve got to do more,” he said. “We’ve got to be presented to the world.”
