Ahead of the highly anticipated release of André Øvredal‘s The Last Voyage Of The Demeter we sat down with the cast to dig into the real horror and explore a chapter of Dracula that has not been brought to the big screen before.
The Last Voyage Of The Demeter follows Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula and brilliantly tells the story of Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo–fifty unmarked wooden crates–from Carpathia to London. Aboard the ship, horrific occurrences begin to plague the crew as they are stalked each night by a merciless Dracula played by Javier Botet, and he is truly frightening.

The cast also includes Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, David Dastmalchian, Jon Jon Briones, Stefan Kapicic, and Nikolai Nikolaeff. Directed by André Øvredal, who creates the perfect eerie atmosphere and dark storyline from the onset, with a group of characters you can’t help but feel doomed for, and Dracula does not hesitate to even go after children. This version is truly ruthless and unlike other Draculas we have encountered before. We really feel his presence and the terror he spreads aboard the ship. While Dracula is a staple part of pop culture, the story of Demeter has been untouched and Øvredal brought this chapter to life in the most horrifying and epic way. We can’t wait for you to see it.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter heads to theaters TODAY August 11, 2023.
