Mindset Comes First: How Sasha Belair Became a Rising Star by Staying Focused

Singer, blogger, writer, and marketer Sasha Belair has accomplished an unthinkable amount, and she’s not yet thirty. Not only is she consistently topping the music charts, she also created the app AB.MONEY, which has more than 200,000 users. And if that weren’t enough, she also runs an Instagram blog with more than half a million followers.

Sasha spoke with us about how such success starts not on the set of a music video, or in production on a new masterclass, or on an international flight. Rather, the rising star explained that it all starts in the mind— if you’re going to reach your potential and live your dreams while inspiring others, you must first put in the work to create and maintain a productive mindset. We were lucky enough to get Sasha’s tricks and tips for doing so, which we’re pleased to share with you now.

Before starting her work, Sasha puts time into making sure her focus and mindset are in the right place. “We often feel like nothing changes in life, but we just need to refocus our attention,” she said.

Sasha believes that working on one’s mindset brings true, tangible results. So much so that she created her own app, AB.MONEY, to help people benefit from the practices she perfected and finds most effective. The app— which is available for free download— relates the process through which she uses meditation to redirect her attention to the world’s abundance and, in doing so, attracts cash flow into her life.

In addition to meditating, Sasha uses red light therapy to help keep her mind and body in the best place for business. Red light therapy, a practice currently gaining momentum in Los Angeles and embraced by celebrities, seems to be an ideal biohacking method. For instance, Kylie Jenner recently brought her own red light therapy bed into her home. Sasha says, “Literally, in 15-20 minutes I get a relaxation like after an 8-hour quality sleep. Perfect for busy city dwellers. But most importantly, I get the best business ideas during the process.”

Sasha is so focused on maintaining the right mindset that she has a set of practices she can do from anywhere, whether she’s on an international flight or in the makeup chair on a music video shoot. For instance, Sasha is constantly listening to music— as you would expect from a chart-topping musician— but she chooses her playlists with a great intentionality. Indeed, the songs Sasha listens to are ones of affirmation. From Survivor by Destiny’s Child, to I’m the Best by Nicki Minaj, the rising star only listens to music that inspires her strength and success. Another practice that Sasha can perform anywhere is her gratitude diary. She writes out 10 things every day that she is currently grateful for and recommends that all creatives and entrepreneurs do the same. “The thing is, saying ‘I’m thankful’ to this world is like saying ‘I’m ready to get more of this,” she explained. These can range from a fun workout to the company of a friend. From a delicious meal to a successful contract. “This powerful practice helps you appreciate life, notice the good, and therefore multiply it.”
