As we previously shared, on Thursday afternoon (October 27), Irving posted a link to a 2018 documentary called ‘Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America.’

According to Rolling Stone, the documentary is based on a 2014 book and it shares “ideas in line with more extreme factions of the Black Hebrew Israelites, which have a long history of misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and especially antisemitism.”

On Saturday morning (October 29), Irving eventually responded to the backlash with another tweet, claiming he “meant no disrespect to anyone’s religious beliefs.”

He fully tweeted: “I am an OMNIST and I meant no disrespect to anyone’s religious beliefs. The “Anti-Semitic” label that is being pushed on me is not justified and does not reflect the reality or truth I live in everyday. I embrace and want to learn from all walks of life and religions. Hélà🤞🏾♾

Irving was then confronted by a reporter later that night after the Brooklyn Nets lost to the Indiana Pacers. The NBA player went on to get into a heated back and forth conversation with ESPN reporter Nick Friedell, who questioned Irving’s initial post.

Irving ultimately claimed, “All I do is post things for my people and my community and those that it’s actually going to impact. Anyone else that has criticism, it obviously wasn’t mean for them.”

Irving issued another tweet on Sunday morning (October 30) after the clip went viral overnight.

The NBA baller said: “Mom, thank you for naming me KYRIE. I am grateful you hid me from the world long enough until I was ready to overstand who I AM. My roots and ancestors lead me back to AFRAKA and I am damn proud to overstand all of the KNOWLEDGE that was left behind for Application.🤞🏾♾
