After dealing with plastic surgery rumors, Zac Efron revealed he almost died in the severe 2013 accident that caused his jaw to shatter.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the “High School” musical star said he nearly died in the accident and called the plastic surgery rumors “funny.” “My mom told me. I don’t really read the internet, so, I don’t really give a f**k. It sucks. I almost died, but we’re good,” he further explained.
In 2013, Efron’s jaw shattered after he slipped and collided with a granite fountain after running around his house with socks on. In an interview with Men’s Health, he recalled that he lost consciousness, and when he woke up, his chin bone was hanging off of his face.
The accident caused the actor to have his mouth wired shut in addition to sustaining a gash that required stitches.

Efron said he had to work with a physical therapist to aid his recovery, but some of his facial and jaw muscles had to work harder since the masseters started growing too big. Additionally, his mother asked him if he had any plastic surgery done due to the numerous rumors spreading on social media. Generally, the actor says he avoids social media unless he’s promoting an upcoming film.
“If I valued what other people thought of me to the extent that they may think I do. I definitely wouldn’t be able to do this work.”
It was speculated that the actor had multiple procedures, from Botox, fillers, injections, or cosmetic dental surgery.
Fans support the actor as his appearance continues to cause speculation.
After Efron confirmed what led to the change in his physical appearance, his fans defended him and said it is unfair that he continues to be judged over his looks.
